Job summary

UMass Memorial Health is hiring for a Hand Therapist to evaluate and treat patients with hand and upper extremity injuries across ages and settings, including inpatient and outpatient care.

Qualifications

• Bachelors or Basic Master's degree in Occupational or Physical Therapy from accredited OT or PT school or equivalent.
• Current license to practice Occupational Therapy or Physical Therapy in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
• AOTCB/NBCOT certification, or eligible and registered for next examination COT.
• Successful completion of National Physical Therapy Board Examination, or eligible for examination and scheduled for next sitting.

Responsibilities

• Administers therapy evaluations and develops treatment plan for patients with hand/upper extremity injuries or dysfunction, including infants and children, adolescents, adults, geriatrics and frail elderly, inpatient and outpatient.
• Provides individual treatment to remediate, restore and/or compensate for sensorimotor, neuromuscular, or musculoskeletal dysfunction.
• Fabricates static and dynamic splints, utilizes physical agent modalities as per licensure and training.
• Facilitates return to activities of daily living through provision of adaptive devices, education in compensatory techniques and use of goal directed activities.
