Job summary

Marshall Health’s Hand and Upper Extremity team seeks an Advanced Practice Provider to deliver comprehensive care in clinic and the operating room, primarily at Marshall University Medical Center in Huntington, WV. You will collaborate with hand surgeons and staff to manage conditions of the hand, wrist, elbow, and upper extremity.

The role includes outpatient clinic duties, first assisting in surgeries, and postoperative follow-up, with occasional coverage at other Marshall Orthopaedics

Qualifications

• Complete musculoskeletal history with focused hand/upper-extremity exam.
• Ability to interpret hand/upper-extremity imaging (X-ray, CT, MRI).
• Experience in perioperative care and/or surgical first assist.

Responsibilities

• Obtain a complete musculoskeletal history with focused hand and upper extremity examination.
• Interpret imaging to determine treatment plans with supervising surgeon.
• Collaborate with hand surgeons on acute and chronic upper extremity conditions.
• Serve as surgical first assistant for hand and upper extremity procedures.
• Order labs and diagnostic procedures as indicated.
• Perform in-office procedures under physician direction (injections, splints, sutures).
• Counsel patients on diagnoses, options, and recovery expectations.
• Instruct on medications, immobilization, rehab, and activity restrictions; coordinate with hand therapy.
• Maintain patient records and triage calls; provide clinical consultation.
• Support pre- and post-operative patient care and continuity of care.
