Job summary

Benchmark Electronics in Minnesota, Rochester, is hiring for a hand soldering role on Shift 2 (M-Th 1545-0130). You will assemble boards, read schematics, and ensure solder quality while following job routings and safety rules.

The job requires hand soldering certification, basic math, and 2+ years of experience with at least 1 year in machine operations. A safety-sensitive position with competitive compensation is offered.

Responsibilities

  • Prints Dispatch List and prioritizes production per guidelines
  • Obtains paperwork and drawings for each job and verifies dates
  • Obtains and verifies parts from kits for current job
  • Hand solders components and inspects solder connections
  • Performs solder potting and dispose of contaminated materials
  • Routes boards to next facility per manufacturing order
  • Performs wire add operations when required
  • Scans completed boards into the system
  • Reports operations complete in the system
  • Uses routings and instructions under supervision
  • Maintains records and completes paperwork
  • Maintains a clean work area and follows safety/ESD rules
  • Data entry for labor and WIP tracking
  • Reports daily throughput to Team Leader
  • Contributes to quality and customer satisfaction

Education

Summary:

Responsible for properly hand soldering and/or using solder machines to locate components onto electronic assemblies.

Responsibilities:
  • Prints Dispatch List and determine which product takes priority based on the defined production guidelines
  • Obtains appropriate paperwork and necessary drawings for each job assignment and verify the paperwork has the correct effective date
  • Obtains and verify parts and materials from kits for current job assignment
  • Hand solders electronic components on boards per documented instructions and schematic drawings, inspects solder connections and clips excess leads as needed
  • Performs solder potting activities and dispose of contaminated materials per procedure and documented instructions
  • Routes completed boards to the next facility for operation per manufacturing order
  • Performs wire add operations when required
  • Scans completed boards into PFS system
  • Performs "Report Operations Complete" Transactions in automated computer system
  • Uses manufacturing routings and process instructions under minimal supervision
  • Performs record keeping and complete paperwork associated with job assignments
  • Maintains a clean work area and follow all safety and ESD practices
  • Performs data entry for labor and work in progress (WIP) tracking
  • Reports daily throughput quantities to the Team Leader
  • All employees are responsible for the Quality of their work to ensure BEI meets, or exceeds Customer Satisfaction.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Ability to read, write and perform basic math functions
  • Basic computer knowledge
  • Ability to successfully complete General Production Procedures Training
  • Ability to successfully complete hand solder Certification requirements
  • Ability to read and understand schematic drawings, process and manufacturing instructions
  • Demonstrate strong component recognition skills
  • Ability to work both independently and in a team setting
  • Demonstrate accuracy and attention to detail
  • Ability to work overtime as needed
  • Ability to cross-train to operate the varied solder equipment
  • 2+ years of experience; Minimum 1+ years of machine experience

Compensation Range: $17.83 to $19.78 USD, plus shift differential. Many factors are considered in compensation decisions, including but not limited to skills, certifications, licensures, experience, training, incumbent data, and other business needs.
