Montana Reclaimed Lumber in Gallatin Gateway, MT is seeking a hands-on 4-Sided Hand-Hewn Department Assistant to process custom timber orders, manage inventory, and maintain a safe, efficient yard. This role combines woodworking/yard tasks with forklift operation and meticulous record-keeping.

The ideal candidate will have strong math and measurement skills, reliable work ethic, and willingness to train for required certifications.

Qualifications

• Strong math and measurement skills for timber calculations and order specs.
• Attention to detail to ensure quality and accuracy on every order.
• Proficient with heavy equipment; willingness to train or certify as needed.
• Ability to lift up to 75 pounds and work outdoors in a lumber yard.
• Dependable work ethic and the ability to follow instructions closely.
• Experience in a lumber yard or with heavy timber is preferred, training available.

Responsibilities

• Pull and process custom 4-sided hand-hewn timber orders to exact specifications.
• Organize and maintain the department yard for safe, efficient workflow.
• Safely operate forklift, chainsaw, and saws; perform daily equipment checks.
• Maintain records for active work orders and material progression.
• Assist supervisor with daily department coordination and sales-office communication.
