Job summary

Syndeo is seeking a skilled Hand Former for a local aircraft component manufacturing company in Wichita. The role involves forming sheet, plate, extrusion and machining parts from ferrous and non-ferrous metals to engineering specs.

We offer a direct-hire opportunity with 1st and 2nd shift options. Pay is based on experience and a comprehensive benefits package is provided.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Able to bend, kneel, squat, stand and lift 50+ lbs as needed.
• Some Aerospace Manufacturing experience preferred.
• Shift availability on 1st or 2nd shift.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate forming machines (arbor press, hydraulic press, stretch press, shrinker / stretcher).
• Determine, select, and set pressures by trial-and-error and record data for future setups.
• Use air hammer or mallets to form metal when wrinkles occur.
• Fabricate and use custom forming tools for minor adjustments to parts.
• Visually check parts against inspection media (surface table, contour template, mylar).
• Make adjustments to presses to form parts correctly.
• Work with ferrous and non-ferrous materials like extrusions, machined parts, sheet and plate stock.
• Maintain and use listed hand tools and measuring devices.

Job description

Syndeo is seeking a skilled Hand Former for a local aircraft component manufacturing company. This position requires the ability to form sheet, plate, extrusion and machine parts of ferrous and non-ferrous metals to engineering requirements.

This is a direct-hire opportunity with both 1st and 2nd shift positions available. The company offers a competitive compensation package and excellent benefits.

1st Shift: 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM

2nd Shift: 3:30 PM - 12:00 AM

Pay: based on experience

Essential Functions:

• Set up and operate forming machines (Ex: arbor press, hydraulic press, stretch press, shrinker / stretcher)
• Determine, select, and set pressures by trial-and-error method and record this data for future set-ups
• Use air hammer or mallets to form metal if wrinkles are present
• Fabricate and utilize custom forming tools to make minor adjustments to part
• Check parts visually against specified inspection media (Ex: surface table, contour template, mylar)
• Make adjustments to press when necessary to form the part properly
• Materials worked with: Ferrous and non-ferrous metal alloys in the form of extrusions, machined parts, sheet and plate stock
• Tools used: Hand tools, mallets, air hammers, check fixtures, calipers, micrometers, scales, tape measures

Qualifications:

• Some experience preferred in Aerospace Manufacturing
• High school diploma or GED preferred
• Able to bend, kneel, squat, stand and lift a minimum of 50 pounds as needed
• Good attendance with the ability to work overtime as necessary

Physical Demand:

Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. when required. While performing duties, employees are regularly required to stand, walk, twist, grasp, lift, and reach. Vision abilities require good close and distance vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

The work environment is not climate controlled, and the noise level is typical for a metal fabrication operation.
