Job summary

Chesapeake Bay Foundation invites applications for the Hampton Roads Urban Restoration Assistant based in Virginia Beach, VA. The role supports monitoring and maintaining regional green infrastructure projects within Advocacy and Restoration, combining fieldwork with community outreach and data collection.

The position is part-time (approximately 20 hours/week) from January 4, 2027 through June 30, 2027, with start/end dates negotiable.

Qualifications

• Experience with MS Office, ArcGIS Online, ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS StoryMaps, and Microsoft Creative Suite is required.
• Ability to lift 60 pounds and work under various outside conditions.
• Must be able to drive to multiple worksites in the Hampton Roads region.
• Self-motivated and able to work independently or in a team.
• Positive attitude, problem-solving skills, and a commitment to the Chesapeake Bay mission.

Responsibilities

• Oversees monitoring and maintenance of regional green infrastructure projects.
• Coordinates on-the-ground maintenance events: scheduling, material orders, and point of contact.
• Develops outreach tools: annual monitoring report, ArcGIS StoryMap updates, and social media posts.
• Updates and maintains internal databases.
• Acts as liaison between Urban Restoration and Grassroots teams to coordinate advocacy actions.
• Assists in field construction on restoration activities and data collection for grants.
