Qualifications

• Minnesota Board of Social Work requires licensure at one of four levels.
• School Social Work license obtained through the Minnesota Department of Education.

Responsibilities

• Use assessment tools to identify barriers to student success.
• Collaborate with school staff, families, and community partners.
• Provide direct and indirect services to students, families and staff.
• Provide crisis prevention and intervention for students and families.
• Discuss factors affecting student performance (family, culture, health).
• Develop and implement plans to enhance student school success.
• Support families facing challenges and connect to resources.
• Address mental and emotional health and refer to outside services when needed.
• Monitor attendance and communicate concerns with parents.
• Identify and report abuse or neglect and consult staff on child protection.
• Advocate for students, families and staff through collaboration.
