Job summary

Pocatello/Chubbuck School District No is seeking a highly qualified paraprofessional to assist special education students at Highland High School. Responsibilities include implementing Individual Education Plans (IEPs), providing personal care and academic support to students with disabilities, and performing medical interventions as needed. Candidates must have a high school diploma or equivalent and 32 college credits, or pass the ETS Paraprofessional Praxis Assessment. Competitive salary and benefits available.

Salary

Rate of pay: $16.78 per hour. Hours per day: 7.5.

Job Summary

The principal function of an employee in this class is to provide assistance to special education students who are requiring significant and regular personal care, behavior interventions, functional life skills acquisition, and functional academics. The position assists in the implementation of a student's Individual Education Plan (IEP). The position works with students who have more severe physical, emotional, and/or learning disabilities. The work is performed under the supervision of a special education teacher, classroom teacher, and the building Principal. The principal duties of this position are performed in a classroom environment and may include exposure to body fluids and some personal injury risk from student behaviors.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the implementation of a student's Individual Education Plan (IEP).
• Provide assistance to special education students requiring significant and regular personal care, behavior interventions, functional life skills acquisition, and functional academics.
• Work with students who have more severe physical, emotional, and/or learning disabilities.
• Assist or perform medical interventions as needed.
• Bill Medicaid and attend yearly training provided by Pocatello/Chubbuck School District Number 25.

Job Requirements

Must be highly qualified. Requires a high school diploma or equivalent AND successful completion of a minimum of 32 academic core college semester credits that will lead to a Bachelor's Degree OR must pass the ETS Paraprofessional Praxis Assessment Test. Copy of transcripts must be uploaded with the application. Candidate will be placed on Level 5 of the salary schedule.

Benefits

Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance and Public Employees Retirement are available to Classified employees who work at least half time (20 hours per week) or more in a regular position and to Certified employees with a .50 FTE or greater contract. There are no benefits for part time (3.5 hour) Instructional Paraprofessionals.
