Job description

Make an Impact with America’s Largest Machine Tool BuilderPicture this: you start your morning at home, review the day’s service calls on your laptop, and head out in a company-provided vehicle to a local manufacturer. By mid-morning, you’re diagnosing a servo fault on a Haas VF series VMC, referencing online manuals and vendor resources. After lunch, you complete a rotary installation, run test parts, and coach the customer’s team on best practices. You wrap up the day by submitting precise service notes and heading home—gas is covered by us.That’s a typical day for a Haas CNC Field Service Engineer at HFO Chicago, a division of Morris Group, Inc., one of North America’s largest machine tool distribution networks. With 20+ years supporting the metalworking community across Northern Illinois and Indiana, we exclusively represent Haas CNC machine tools and rotary products—5-axis universal machining centers, vertical and horizontal machining centers, CNC lathes, mills, rotary tables, and 5C collet indexers—engineered for accuracy, repeatability, and durability.

  • Deliver after-sales technical support, training, and preventative maintenance to maximize uptime.
  • Maintain strong product and industry knowledge across all Haas platforms and related technologies.
  • Train on CNC repair and Haas systems during onboarding; earn factory certification within your first year.
  • Report directly to the Service Manager and assist with related duties as needed.
  • Note: Responsibilities listed reflect core work you’ll perform; similar tasks may be assigned as logical extensions of the role.
What You’ll Bring
  • Proven mechanical/electrical repair aptitude (CNC repair background preferred).
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and schematics (required).
  • Comfort with technology: laptop, smartphone, and software; Microsoft Office experience is a plus.
  • Excellent technical communication and presentation skills.
  • Capacity to regularly lift 40–50 lbs and meet the physical demands of field service.
  • Flexibility to travel frequently within a regional territory; you’ll be dispatched from home each day and drive to customer sites.
