Job summary

Newport Restaurant Group is recruiting a Catering Server for the 2027 season at Castle Hill Inn in Newport, RI. This H‑2B role supports weddings, corporate events, and private functions during April 1–December 1, 2027.

You will greet guests, assist with beverages and service, arrange banquet spaces, and ensure smooth dining operations across multiple settings. Housing is provided within 2 miles, with transportation options available and a referral bonus program.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 months of service experience.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to stand for extended periods and lift 25–50 pounds.
• Collaborative attitude and a respectful, team‑oriented environment.

Responsibilities

• Greet guests in the dining room and event spaces, direct them to tables, confirm reservations, and provide menus.
• Offer beverage or hors d’oeuvre service at banquet events.
• Set up and break down tables, linens, chairs, and place settings for events.
• Assist with event setup and breakdown indoors and outdoors per floor plans.
• Stock and replenish beverage stations and pour beverages during events.
• Carry trays, serve food and drinks, and clear tables; wait tables as needed.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

• Greet guests in the dining room and event spaces: welcome them at the dining room podium or banquet reception area, direct them to their tables, confirm reservation details, and provide initial menus or event information
• Offer initial beverage or hors d’oeuvre service and seating guidance at banquet events
• Set up and break down tables, linens, and chairs for banquet events and dining room service, including full place settings (flatware, china, and glassware), bread stations, and water carafes
• Take part in full event setup and breakdown, indoors and outdoors, following event floor plans for weddings, corporate dinners, and private functions
• Set up and organize beverage stations: stock and replenish beverages, glassware, ice, and supplies, pour beverages for service, carry trays of beverages during events, and keep stations replenished throughout
• Carry trays and plates, serve food and non‑alcoholic and alcoholic beverages, and clean and clear tables
• Occasionally wait tables in the dining room on an as‑needed basis

You’ll report directly to the Banquet Director at Castle Hill Inn.

For our H‑2B Catering Server program, you’ll be placed at Castle Hill Inn, a world‑class Relais & Châteaux property located on 40 acres overlooking Narragansett Bay. This historic coastal retreat features fine dining, banquet facilities, and two acclaimed restaurants, offering you the opportunity to learn and grow in a premier hospitality setting.
