Job summary

YMCA of Pierce and Kitsap Counties in Puyallup, WA is seeking a part-time Gymnastics Instructor to lead, teach and motivate children in gymnastics skills and progression. You will apply your passion to serve others and support staff, members, guests, volunteers, and program participants in the gymnastics program.

The role requires six months of experience teaching gymnastics (preferred), a positive attitude, safety focus, and the ability to complete required trainings and background checks.

Qualifications

• Six months or more of experience teaching gymnastics and/or personal gymnastics experience (preferred).
• Positive attitude and previous experience with children of all ages and diverse populations.
• Knowledge and skills in program activities and related gymnastics and office equipment set-up, and the ability to instruct participants in age-appropriate techniques.
• Knowledge and skills to instruct gymnastics (preferred).
• CPR, First Aid, and AED certifications (preferred).
• Must be able to pass Background and Reference checks (in accordance with the WA State Fair Chance Act).
• Committed to valuing and promoting diversity and contributing to an inclusive working and learning environment.
• Able and willing to complete online Child Abuse Prevention training on first day, and other online and in-person training as required.

Responsibilities

• Prepare lesson plans with a natural progression appropriate to the age and ability of the gymnast.
• Instruct gymnasts in a safe and fun manner
• Outline class lesson plans to keep children moving
• Enforce all safety rules and regulations in the gymnastics gym.
• Finish each class with a fun group activity

Job description

Wage: $18.54 to $22.36 per hour (Compensation is determined based on relevant experience, skills, and qualifications, with most new hires starting between the minimum and midpoint of the posted wage range)

Hours: Part-Time, Up to 25 hours per week

Location: Mel Korum Family YMCA, Puyallup, WA

As a Gymnastics Instructor, you will provide direct leadership, instruction and motivation for children of all ages teaching gymnastics skills and progression.
