Job summary

The Town of Herndon is seeking two part-time Gymnastics Instructors for the Herndon Community Center’s youth program. Classes run on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 1:30pm to 8:00pm, for ages 3-9 in three groups.

Instructors will create age-appropriate lessons and manage a safe, engaging environment for children. Applicants should have prior experience teaching gymnastics or related activities, work well with kids, and be able to lift and move equipment up to 50 pounds.

Qualifications

• Experience teaching gymnastics, cheerleading, or tumbling.
• Experience working with children.
• Over 18, preferred gymnastics/cheerleading experience.
• Available Tuesdays and Thursdays afternoons/evenings.
• CPR & First Aid certification desired.

Responsibilities

• Develop lesson plans and independently teach a variety of gymnastics classes for children under 10.
• Create and maintain a safe, positive, growth-oriented environment.
• Set up and clean up before and after each class.
• Be punctual and communicate absences or tardiness.
• Able to spot and assist athletes, lift children, and move equipment up to 50 pounds.

The Town of Herndon is seeking to hire two part-time Gymnastics Instructors for the Herndon Community Center’s youth gymnastics skill-based program. We are seeking applicants who have availability in their schedules on Tuesdays and Thursdays this Fall and beyond from 1:30pm until 8:00pm. This position would be responsible for the creation and instruction of an age-appropriate guided gymnastics program for children ages 3-9, broken up into 3 age groups (3-5, 5-7, and 6-9).

Expectations and Responsibilities:

• Develop lesson plans and independently teach a variety of gymnastics classes to children under 10 years of age.
• Create and maintain a safe, positive, growth-oriented environment.
• Expected to set up and clean up before and after each class taught.
• Expected to be punctual and someone who can be relied upon to communicate absence or tardiness.
• Must be physically capable of spotting and assisting athletes, lifting children, and moving equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.

Qualifications:

• Past experiences with teaching gymnastics, cheerleading, or tumbling competitions.
• Past experiences working with children.
• Responsible, energetic, and positive.
• Able to work on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons and evenings.
• CPR & First Aid certification desired.
• Over 18, previous teaching experience and gymnastics/gymnast/cheerleading/tumbling experience preferred.
