Job summary

The YMCA of Eastern Delaware County in Springfield is seeking a Gymnastics Coach to lead fun, engaging, and skill-building programs for youth during daytime weekday sessions. The role emphasizes safety, positive participation, and alignment with YMCA values.

Qualifications

• Minimum 18 years of age.
• Preferred experience working with children.
• Certifications: American Heart Association or American Red Cross CPR/AED, and First Aid within 15 days of hire.
• Completion of required trainings.
• Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.

• Build authentic relationships with participants and parents; encourage involvement.
• Maintains records as required (i.e. attendance, progress reports, etc.).
• Complete accident/incident reports as necessary.
• Attend staff meetings and trainings and follow YMCA policies.
• Organizes and puts away needed class equipment. Reports damaged equipment.
• Maintain a professional attitude and appearance per dress code.
• Adhere to policies related to boundaries and supervision with consumers. Manage high risk activities.
• Any other duties deemed necessary to ensure the success of the Community YMCA of Eastern Delaware County.

POSITION SUMMARY

Plan, direct and implement safe, quality gymnastics programs as scheduled. Must have thorough knowledge of course content, curriculum and enjoy working with children. This position will be expected to follow the values of Caring, Honesty, Respect and Responsibility in every duty associated with the YMCA. Creates a safe and positive atmosphere that promotes member safety and engagement in accordance with YMCA policies and procedures.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

1. Assists with planning, directing, and implementing gymnastics program.

2. Reinforce children’s actions in a positive manner to promote safety and health self-images.

3. Builds effective, authentic relationships with participants and parents; helps them connect with each other and the YMCA. Encourages parent involvement.

4. Maintains records as required (i.e. attendance, progress reports, etc.).

7. Follows all YMCA policies, rules, regulations and procedures, including emergency and safety procedures. Completes incident and accident reports as necessary.

• Must be able to see, hear, direct, and assist members, guests, and staff to ensure safety.
