Job summary

Greater Philadelphia YMCA is seeking a gymnastics coach to join our Y team in Boyertown. This part-time, hourly role pays $13.00–$18.00 per hour and offers a flexible schedule.

We aim to positively impact the community by helping children reach their potential and learn progressive gymnastics routines. We value strong communication with parents and a passion for working with kids in a supportive environment.

Qualifications

• 21+ years of age and 3–5 years of gymnastics experience.
• Some college or equivalent.
• USAG Safety Certification for Competitions preferred.
• Strong communication with parents and participants.

Responsibilities

• Provide a safe, supportive environment for learners in YMCA programs.
• Arrive at least 15 minutes before class to set up and prepare.
• Evaluate program skills; complete progress reports and parent communications.
• Assist in instruction of program skills and character development per YMCA standards.
• Supervise participants and participate actively in all activities.
• Wear proper attire in accordance with YMCA standards.
• Manage participant behavior with a collaborative approach with supervision and parents.
• Follow approved positive support techniques to develop gymnast skills.
• Attend staff meetings and trainings as required.

What is needed for this job:

• 21+ years of age, 3-5 years of experience in gymnastics setting
• Some college or equivalent
• USAG Safety Certification for Competitions Preferred with strong knowledge of gymnastics competitions including experience at the National state and/or national level
• Have strong communication skills with desire to meet everyone at their level of experience
• Enjoyment from working with children and keeping positive relationships with their parents

The responsibilities we will trust you with:

• Provide a safe environment, encouraging, and supportive environment that allows members and participants to learn YMCA programs and assist in learning the specific progressive or competitive program
• Arrive at least 15 minutes before scheduled class and be prepared with equipment set up and ready to begin at scheduled time
• Evaluate program skills; complete progress reports for each session; complete communications for parents; complete incident reports; take attendance
• Assist in the instruction of program skills and character development objectives and techniques in accordance with YMCA standards
• Provide supervision to program participants and actively participate in all aspects of the program
• Wear proper attire in accordance with YMCA standards
• Manage participant behavior using collaborative approach with supervision and parents
• Follow approved positive support techniques to develop and refine gymnast’s skills
• Attend staff meetings and trainings as required
