Job summary

St. Augustine Catholic High School in Tucson, AZ is seeking a Part-time Gym Custodian to maintain the cleanliness and readiness of the gymnasium and athletic spaces. Under the direction of the School President and Facilities leadership, you will uphold Catholic values while performing daily cleaning, safety checks, and setup for events.

The role requires punctuality, independence, attention to detail, and the ability to work early mornings. Previous custodial experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Maintain the gymnasium and athletic facility to established cleanliness standards.
• Clean and maintain the gymnasium floor/court and bleachers.
• Clean and maintain locker rooms, weight room, lobby and restrooms, MPR and snack bar areas.
• Empty trash and handle waste disposal; restock supplies.
• Inspect for cleanliness, safety, and readiness; report issues.
• Assist with setup for athletic events and post-event cleanup.
• Maintain equipment, tools, and custodial supplies; ensure security of facilities.

Job Title: Gym Custodian

Status:Part time

Exemption Status: Non-exempt

Department/Location: St. Augustine Catholic High School / Tucson

Primary Function: Under the direction of the School President and Facilities leadership, the employee is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness, sanitation, organization, and daily readiness of the school's gymnasium building and associated athletic spaces. The Employee shall be a minister of the Gospel and Catholic Teaching behaviorally while at work and in his/her personal life, Live in a manner worthy of the call you have received. (Eph. 4:1)

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Support the Church's spiritual and pastoral mission and the mission of St. Augustine Catholic High School.
• Shall abide by Catholic principles in the employee’s professional and private life and shall govern his/her professional and private life in strict accordance with Catholic morals and principles to demonstrate complete adherence to Catholic moral strictures.

• Maintain the gymnasium and athletic facility to established cleanliness standards
• Clean and maintain the gymnasium floor/court
• Clean and maintain bleachers
• Clean and maintain boys' and girls' locker rooms
• Clean and maintain weight room

• Empty trash and maintain appropriate waste disposal procedures
• Restock restroom, custodial, and other assigned supplies
• Complete daily cleaning prior to the start of the school day
• Inspect the gym and athletic facility for cleanliness, safety, and readiness
• Report maintenance, safety, or facility concerns immediately
• Assist with preparation and setup for athletic events
• Assist with post-event cleanup when assigned
• Maintain equipment, tools, and custodial supplies
• Maintain security of the gymnasium, equipment, and supplies
• Work collaboratively with the Athletic Department and Facilities team
• Comply with safety regulations and maintain a safe working environment
• Perform other duties as assigned

Physical/Mental Requirements:

Requires coordination and manual dexterity; normal mental and visual ability; ability to lift 45lbs as required in a normal custodial environment.

Required Activities:

Walking, sitting, standing, stooping, reaching, talking, handling, hearing, carrying, and climbing ladders.

Basic Qualifications:

• Must have a working knowledge of and a strong commitment to the mission of the Diocese and Catholic Church; must be in full communion with the Catholic Church
