Job summary

Diocese of St. Augustine seeks a Custodian for St. Joseph Academy. Under supervision of the Facilities Manager, responsibilities include general custodial work, cleaning, and site maintenance to support the school and church missions.

The ideal candidate has a high school diploma, at least two years of custodial experience, and a commitment to Catholic values. Must be reliable, organized, and capable of lifting up to 50 pounds, with occasional after-hours work.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent education.
• Two years’ experience in a commercial or private maintenance, custodial, or similar position.
• Must have a working knowledge of and a strong commitment to the mission of the Diocese and Catholic Church.
• Excellent communications skills, verbal and written; excellent human relations and interpersonal skills.
• Self-starter; well organized; perform multiple tasks simultaneously and work with a sense of urgency.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality.
• Ability to travel locally as required; weekend and overtime work may be required.

Responsibilities

• Follows a cleaning schedule to assure the school is clean and maintained in an orderly fashion.
• Performs general custodial duties to include cleaning and light maintenance of the school facilities.
• Assists grounds keeper on an "as needed" basis to keep and maintain the yard appearance.
• Performs scheduled monthly, semi-annual, or annual janitorial duties, i.e., floor waxing, painting, window washing, carpet cleaning, etc.
• Provides set-up and cleaning of facilities for all activities and events as directed.
• Cleans equipment, including kitchen, restrooms and other facilities; maintains supplies and equipment.
• Maintains security of buildings, equipment, and tools.
• Be able to read directions and label safety warnings; safety-conscious.
