Job summary

AST SpaceMobile is seeking a Gateway Antenna Engineer to monitor global gateway and telemetry stations, provide real-time service assurance, and resolve incidents. This on-site role supports satellite teleport systems and collaborates with cross-functional teams to ensure network health from our Lanham, MD office.

Responsibilities

• Monitor connectivity and operational status of global gateway and telemetry stations.
• Troubleshoot anomalies and network failures; perform root-cause analysis and escalate as required.
• Maintain incident documentation, manage trouble tickets, and generate reports.
• Ensure service assurance through real-time monitoring and incident resolution.
• Provide first-line, customer-facing technical support (phone, email, chat).
• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on satellite teleport systems and infrastructure.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams for escalations, upgrades, and system changes.
• Operate and maintain fault management systems to track network health and performance.

AST SpaceMobile is building the first and only global cellular broadband network in space to operate directly with standard, unmodified mobile devices based on our extensive IP and patent portfolio and designed for both commercial and government applications. Position Overview

We are seeking a Gateway Antenna Engineer to monitor the connectivity and operational status of global gateway and telemetry stations, providing service assurance through real-time monitoring and incident resolution. This role troubleshoots anomalies and network failures, performs preventive and corrective maintenance on satellite teleport systems and infrastructure, and provides first-line, customer-facing technical support. This person collaborates closely with cross-functional teams for escalations, upgrades, and system changes, and operates fault management systems to track network health and performance.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor connectivity and operational status of global gateway and telemetry stations.
• Troubleshoot anomalies and network failures, conduct root‑cause analysis, and escalation as required.
• Maintain detailed incident documentation, manage trouble tickets, and generate reports.

Qualifications

Education:

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electronics, Telecommunications, or a related field.

Experience:

• Minimum 3 years' experience in Satellite or Cellular Communications.
• Hands‑on experience with RF systems, high‑power amplifiers, converters, antenna drive systems, and baseband equipment.
• Solid knowledge of IP networks, fiber optics, modems, multiplexers, and broadband systems.
• Proficiency in remote monitoring tools, system diagnostics, and remote desktop platforms.
• Ability to troubleshoot complex systems with minimal supervision.
• Demonstrated experience with monitoring and fault management tools.

Preferred Qualifications: Soft Skills:

• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, in English.
• Flexible and adaptable in a dynamic, fast‑paced operational environment.

Physical Requirements

• Must be available for on‑site work at the Lanham/DC office.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to climb ladders and work in confined spaces or elevated locations to access antenna and RF equipment.
• Ability to work rotating shifts, on‑call, or outside standard business hours to support continuous gateway and telemetry station monitoring.
