Job summary

ARCH Medical Solutions in Warsaw, IN is seeking a Gun Drill Machinist to set up and operate gun drilling equipment and produce deep, precise bores meeting blueprint and quality specs.

Responsibilities include reading blueprints, selecting tooling, loading parts, and maintaining proper workholding, coolant flow, and chip evacuation. Experience with GD&T and precision measuring tools is essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Read engineering drawings and manufacturing instructions.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate gun drill machines.
• Read and interpret blueprints, GD&T requirements, routers, and work instructions.
• Select and set up drills, tooling, and workholding.
• Load parts and verify secure workholding.
• Monitor coolant pressure, coolant flow, and chip evacuation.
• Adjust feeds and speeds within authorized limits.
• Control drilling depth, hole straightness, bore size, and surface finish.
• Recognize tool wear and perform tool changes.
• Troubleshoot drift, straightness, dimensional, finish, and chip evacuation issues.
• Perform first-piece and in-process inspections.
• Use calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, indicators, and other precision measuring equipment.
• Complete production, inspection, and traceability documentation.
• Support preventive maintenance activities.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
• Assist with continuous improvement initiatives and training.
