Job summary

Volkert, Inc. seeks a Utility Engineer to support its Gulf Region in Alabama. The role involves engineering design for water, wastewater, electric, telecom, and natural gas projects across Birmingham, Huntsville, Mobile, and Tuscaloosa.

You will plan and manage projects, oversee designers, and ensure quality by following established standards and procedures, while coordinating with multi-disciplinary teams to meet timelines and budgets.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering required.
• 1-5 years of design experience using AutoCAD Civil 3D, MicroStation, GeoPak, OpenRoads, and InRoads.
• Ability to obtain EI Certification within a year; PE preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform engineering design for linear utility projects (water, wastewater, electric, telecom, natural gas).
• Plan and manage diverse projects and oversee designers and drafters.
• Ensure adherence to standards and use established procedures.
• Conduct design computations, checks, and quantity takeoffs.
• Coordinate with team and stakeholders to meet schedules and budgets.
