Job summary

Mercor is seeking native Gujarati speakers for a data annotation project focused on Gujarati documents. You will annotate and transcribe pages with exact Gujarati script, identify structure and relationships, and ensure accurate reading order across complex layouts.

Tasks are reviewed by a second Gujarati expert to guarantee quality. Responsibilities include verifying page content, preserving handwritten text, and capturing metadata such as language and document type.

Qualifications

• Native Gujarati speaker with full command of script and orthography.
• Experience in annotation, transcription, localization, subtitling, proofreading or regional-language data review.
• Character-level accuracy matters; exactness over speed.
• Systematic approach to diverse layouts such as multi-column documents.
• Comfortable with unfamiliar layouts: handwritten forms and varied sources.

Responsibilities

• Open and check a task; pages are provided for you to annotate.
• Annotate structure: bound every meaningful region and assign type and reading order.
• Record relationships: link regions to related figures/tables via parent IDs.
• Transcribe faithfully: reproduce Gujarati text exactly as it appears, including handwriting.
• Capture metadata: language, document type, source, page dimensions and handwriting flags.
• Review a colleague’s work: every task is double-checked by a Gujarati expert.
