Job summary

State of Oklahoma is seeking a Guidance Manager to provide statewide leadership for the Counseling and Career Development division, driving career readiness and student success across Oklahoma CareerTech centers and K–12 programs.

Responsibilities include developing and evaluating statewide initiatives, coordinating resources, and supervising CCD staff to ensure effective guidance services and academic development.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of five (5) years of successful school counseling experience in a CareerTech technology center or K–12 educational setting.

  • Direct statewide efforts to strengthen educational transitions, workforce readiness, and student access to high-quality career development opportunities.
  • Monitor, interpret, and communicate the impact of federal and state legislation, policies, and initiatives affecting career guidance, counseling, academic development, and student services.

Summary: Provide statewide leadership for the administration of career awareness and educational attainment initiatives through guidance, counseling and career development programs with effective student services to create a career and academic connections through opportunities and activities for academic development and career readiness.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities
  • Provide strategic leadership for the Counseling and Career Development (CCD) division by planning, developing, implementing, and evaluating statewide initiatives that promote career readiness, academic development, and student success.
  • Lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of career guidance, counseling, advisement, and student services programs across Oklahoma CareerTech technology centers and K–12 CareerTech programs.
  • Direct statewide efforts to strengthen educational transitions, workforce readiness, and student access to high-quality career development opportunities.
  • Monitor, interpret, and communicate the impact of federal and state legislation, policies, and initiatives affecting career guidance, counseling, academic development, and student services. Develop resources and guidance to support successful implementation statewide.
  • Provide leadership in the collection, analysis, and reporting of program data to evaluate outcomes, support continuous improvement, and communicate the impact of CCD initiatives.
  • Develop, administer, and monitor the Counseling and Career Development division budget, ensuring responsible stewardship of state and federal resources.
  • Supervise, mentor, and evaluate division staff while fostering a collaborative, high-performing team focused on innovation, customer service, and continuous improvement.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support the mission, vision, and strategic priorities of the Oklahoma Department of Career and Technology Education.
Salary/Benefits

$66,375.50 - $88,000.00

Management Responsibility

Directly supervises employees and shares responsibility for hiring, termination, performance management process. Responsible for scheduling, assigning work tasks and measuring performance objectives.

Communication Skills

Read, analyze, and interpret professional journals. financial reports, and legal documents, as necessary. Respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers regulatory agencies, or members of the community. Write complex reports in a prescribed format. Effectively present information 10 top management, public groups, and boards of directors. Communicate complex ideas and beliefs to top management.

Mathematical Skills

Apply mathematical concepts as applicable.

Reasoning Skills

Define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions and deal with several abstract and concrete variables,

Other Job-Related Knowledge Skills And Abilities

Knowledge of career development stages, and components of a comprehensive guidance/counseling program. Knowledge of career development and guidance/counseling resources and services. Familiarity presentation software/equipment and Microsoft Office or comparable software. Ability to manage multiple priorities, handle confidential and sensitive matters, and planning/organizing statewide events are critical. Supervision skills, leadership skills, and professionalism are essential.

Position based onsite in Stillwater, OK. Some travel and valid driver's license required.
