Guest Services Representative

Adler Planetarium

Base Pay Range

$17.50/hr - $18.39/hr

Position

The Adler Planetarium is seeking a Guest Service Representative to join our dynamic team located on Chicago's Museum Campus. This position fulfills multiple responsibilities: gate attending at the main box office and theaters; ticket sales at the accessible entrance; group processing; and orientation. This individual will also be responsible for the following:

  • Greet guests with a friendly demeanor and verify tickets, discounts, and admission eligibility.
  • Orienting groups on buses during intake and assisting with departure. Organizing and managing lunch space. Greeting and orienting groups to Planet Explorers and enforcing rules.
  • Verifying and selling tickets at theaters, ushering guests, organizing seating, and ensuring guest safety.
  • Redeeming and selling tickets accurately, conducting transactions.
  • Providing exceptional customer service to those contacting the museum.
  • Setting up and displaying signage indoors and outdoors.
Work Schedule

The typical work schedule for this position is Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10:30 am to 4:30 pm and Sundays or Mondays from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm.

Compensation & Benefits (Part-Time)

Base Pay Range: $17.50/hr - $18.39/hr

  • 7 to 25‑hour workweek
  • Eligible to accrue up to 6 vacation days per year
  • 3 sick days as of date of hire (can accrue up to 6.5 days per year)
  • Eligible to earn time and a half for working on any of the 7 Adler observed holidays

Required Qualifications
  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent years of relevant work experience.
  • One year of experience in a guest‑facing role with cash handling responsibilities.
  • Basic knowledge of service and ticketing systems.
  • Basic knowledge of G Suite and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Basic understanding of the Museum Campus and local attractions.
Preferred Qualifications
  • One year of experience working in high‑volume tourist attractions with cash handling responsibilities.
  • Basic knowledge of the Gateway Galaxy Ticketing System.
  • Intermediate understanding of the Museum Campus and local attractions.
