Job summary

Black Bear Diner Hayward is seeking a friendly, customer-focused server to greet guests, take orders, and ensure a smooth dining experience. You will use the Aloha POS system, coordinate with the kitchen, and maintain a clean, organized dining area.

The role requires reliability, strong communication, and a team-oriented attitude to deliver excellent service. Responsibilities include taking and repeating orders, communicating delays, and ensuring each check is accurate.

Qualifications

• Be punctual to begin your work.
• Wear proper uniform and maintain neat appearance.
• Greet guests within two minutes and introduce yourself by name.
• Take and confirm orders, communicate any substitutions or issues.
• Enter orders into Aloha with correct modifications and timings.
• Never ignore guests; inform them of delays and stay engaged.
• Maintain a cheerful, professional demeanor and clean work areas.
• All servers must hold a Food Handlers Certification.

Responsibilities

• Takes food orders, ensures accuracy by repeating back orders to guests.
• Communicate any stock or item unavailability to guests gracefully.
• Coordinate with kitchen expeditor/manager for special requests.
• Check back with guests post-delivery to offer refills or respond to issues.
• Keep dining stations clean, organized, and stocked at all times.
