Job summary

Don Harrington Discovery Center is seeking an Operations Coordinator II to oversee visitor services, manage memberships and volunteers, and support events and programs. The role includes supervising the visitor experience team, coordinating birthday parties and special events, and handling administrative tasks related to reservations and donations.

The position offers part-time hours (18-25 per week) with an hourly rate of $15-$17, depending on experience.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; some college preferred in business, hospitality, or related field.
• 1+ years of experience in customer service, retail, or operations coordination.
• Experience working with volunteers and/or event coordination is a plus.
• Strong communication, organizational, and multitasking skills. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite; familiarity with POS systems and membership databases is helpful.
• Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends, holidays, and evenings as needed.

Responsibilities

• Visitor Experience: supervise shift tasks, rotate Saturday MOD shift, enforce high-quality guest service, communicate feedback to DHDC team, support programs, events, and facility rentals.
• Memberships & Volunteers: assist with membership sales/renewals and recruit volunteer staff for operations and events.
• Event Coordination: assist with birthday parties, school reservations, and special events.
• Operations & Administrative Support: manage invoices and change orders, assist Front Desk, maintain records, support marketing and outreach, conduct inventory checks and supply ordering, respond to donor inquiries.
