Job summary

Hyatt Regency Minneapolis is seeking a skilled General Maintenance / Shift Engineer to join our Engineering team. This role maintains the functionality, safety, and appearance of guest rooms, public areas, meeting spaces, and back-of-house facilities, troubleshooting HVAC, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and life-safety systems to deliver exceptional service.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of building maintenance experience; hotel experience preferred.
• Working knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and general repair practices.
• Ability to read blueprints and schematics (preferred).
• Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to work independently.
• Professional communication and guest-service mindset.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in tight or elevated spaces.
• Comfortable using ladders, hand tools, and power tools.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine and emergency repairs in guestrooms and public spaces
• Troubleshoot and repair HVAC units, thermostats, motors, and zone valves
• Complete plumbing repairs including toilets, sinks, tubs, and showers
• Perform electrical work including switches, sockets, ballasts, and lighting components
• Maintain and repair doors, locks, safes, and guestroom technology (TVs, phones, iHome units)
• Conduct preventive maintenance using a Windows based work order system
• Support fire/life safety systems including smoke detectors and panel monitoring
• Provide professional, timely communication with guests and internal teams
