Job summary

Thompson Hospitality Corporation in Fairfax, VA is seeking an energetic Host to warmly greet, seat, and assist guests, ensuring a smooth flow and adherence to service standards. The Host will welcome guests, manage reservations when needed, take to-go orders, and maintain a clean, organized dining area while delivering friendly, efficient service in a fast-paced, upscale casual setting.

Qualifications

• Experience in high-volume, upscale casual dining or equivalent service.
• Able to stand and walk for up to 10 hours per day.
• Able to lift and carry up to 40 pounds.
• Certified in (or able to be certified in) responsible alcohol service.
• Able to work flexible shifts, including weekends and some holidays.
• High energy and stamina in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong communication skills in person and over the phone.

Responsibilities

• Greets guests and facilitates seating per timing and service standards.
• Communicates clearly with guests in person and by phone.
• Cleans and maintains an organized work area, restrooms, and dining perimeter.
• Assists in clearing and cleaning tables as needed.
• Knows the food and beverage menu and speaks to it from memory.
• Completes side-work tasks and takes to-go orders.
• Processes orders in the POS system and manages reservations.
• Follows safe food and beverage handling procedures per local standards.
