Job summary

Ruth’s Chris Steak House in Annapolis, MD is seeking a Host/Host to coordinate reservations, greet arrivals and seat guests to ensure a superior dining experience. You will manage the wait list, coordinate with servers and bar staff, and maintain a welcoming hostess stand and lobby.

The role requires excellent customer service, the ability to handle stressful situations with professionalism, and a flexible schedule including afternoons, nights, weekends, and holidays.

• Ability to diplomatically deal with difficult situations while maintaining professionalism.
• Ability to handle stress associated with responding to problems.

Responsibilities

• Reports to work as indicated on the work schedule and in the correct uniform.
• Obtains staffing and station assignments for servers, service assistants, runners and bar staff from the Manager-on-Duty.
• Completes opening and side work duties of the hostess/host at the start of the shift.
• Assists in planning reservations and assigning parties to tables, stations or servers.
• Answers the telephone, takes, confirms and documents reservations.
• Greets arriving Guests, records names and directs guests to waiting areas.
• Escorts Guests to their table and manages seating flow.
• Quotes waiting times and maintains the wait list.
• Notifies Manager-on-Duty if waiting times exceed quotes.
• Maintains cleanliness of hostess/host stand and lobby.
• Communicates guest concerns to Manager-on-Duty.
• Welcomes departing guests and invites return.
• Completes closing duties timely and adheres to safety guidelines.
• Supports other Front-of-House positions as needed.
• Follows all standards in the Employee Training Packet.
