Job summary

San Luis Resort, Spa and Conference Center in Galveston, TX seeks a Host to warmly welcome guests, answer questions, and present a positive first impression of the restaurant experience. You will learn the menu, daily specials, and promotions to relay accurate information.

Qualifications

• 1 year of restaurant experience preferred.
• Organizational skills are essential.
• Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills are required.
• Positive attitude and customer-service orientation are important.
• Ability to work well in a team environment.
• Strong multitasking capabilities are necessary.
• Availability on weekdays, weekends, nights, mornings, and holidays.
• Must be able to read and write in English and handle math calculations.

Responsibilities

• Greet and welcome guests as they arrive at the restaurant with a genuine smile and positive attitude.
• Engage with guests, anticipate their needs, and respond promptly to inquiries or concerns.
• Maintain knowledge of the menu, daily specials, and promotions to provide accurate information.
• Handle guest complaints or issues professionally or bring them to the manager when necessary.
• Assist with running food, delivering and/or refilling guests’ drinks.
• Guide guests to their tables and present them with menus.
• Take to-go orders over the phone and in person.
• Engage with guests to ensure they're happy with food and service.
• Refill drinks and clear plates as needed during dining experience.
• Provide great customer service.
• Provide highchairs and other requested items to guests.
• Comply with all federal and state laws, including FLSA tip regulations.
