Job summary

SSP America in Pittsburgh is seeking a Host/Hostess to welcome guests, seat them, and maintain smooth dining room flow. You will greet guests, assist with children, present menus, and coordinate with servers to ensure a positive first impression.

This position requires at least 6 months in retail or food service, good English communication, and basic math for handling orders and payments. A high school diploma is preferred, and brand or food-handler certifications may be required.

Qualifications

• 6 months' experience in retail or food service environment.
• High school diploma preferred.
• Excellent verbal and written communication.
• Ability to read, speak, and understand English to communicate with guests.
• Experience handling customer-service issues.
• Food handlers permit as required by law.
• Brand certification, as required.
• Ability to remember, recite, and promote menu items.
• Ability to stand and work in confined spaces for long periods.

Responsibilities

• Greet guests in a courteous and professional manner and escort to their table.
• Seat guests and maintain flow in restaurant (rotating tables).
• Assist guests with children and special needs as required.
• Present menus, answer questions and offer suggestions.
• Inform servers and management of guest needs or problems.
• Clear and reset counters or tables after each course.
• Ensure complete guest satisfaction and thank guests upon exit.
• Other duties as assigned.
