Job description

The Compton · Bentonville, Arkansas

The Compton holds itself to the standard of the great houses, where luxury is not marble and chandeliers but anticipation, recognition, and genuine warmth. The kind of service a guest feels but rarely sees. We serve the person, not the room.

As a Guest Experience Agent, you own the most important ninety seconds of any stay: the arrival. You are the first face a guest sees, the named greeting at the door, the true story on the walk to the room, and the quiet proof that someone in Bentonville has been expecting them all along.

What You'll Do
  • Greet every guest by name at the door so the welcome lands as recognition, not a transaction.
  • Guide guests through check-in and check-out so smoothly they barely notice the logistics, with the ease of a host rather than the formality of a desk.
  • Anticipate needs before they are spoken, drawing on guest preferences and history so returning guests feel known from the first moment.
  • Escort guests to their rooms and share the true stories of the building, Neil Compton, and the Ozarks, never recited, always in your own voice.
  • Confirm reservations, process payments, and issue room keys with quiet precision, handling the details so the guest never has to.
  • Serve as a concierge to Bentonville, sending guests into the community the way a local friend would, from the Greenway and the trails to Crystal Bridges, Sestina, The Eddy, and Field Notes.
  • Resolve guest concerns with patience, ownership, and care, turning a problem into a story the guest is glad to tell.
  • Create the small surprise-and-delight moments guests remember and repeat for years.
  • Promote the hotel's services, amenities, and experiences as genuine invitations, never a hard sell.
  • Safely handle guest valuables and lost and found items, and uphold every security standard with discretion.
  • Maintain accurate records of guest accounts and room status, with care for the details that protect the experience.
  • Treat every guest as a VIP, the celebrated and the unrecognized alike, because that is how a reputation becomes unshakeable.
What We're Looking For
  • A genuine gift for hospitality. We hire for warmth and train for skill, so how you make people feel matters more to us than any single line on a résumé.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Strong customer service skills, with a warm, grounded, and professional presence.
  • A natural storyteller, ready to learn the history of the building and the Ozarks and share it with ease.
  • Flexible availability, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Previous hospitality or front desk experience is a plus but not required.
  • Strong multitasking, communication, and teamwork skills.
  • Physically able to lift up to 30 lbs and stand for long periods.
Why The Compton

Here, you are not just checking guests in. You are welcoming them into our community and into the Ozarks. The Compton is named for Neil Compton, the preservationist who fought to protect the Buffalo River, and we carry that sense of place into every stay. Every interaction is a chance to make a guest feel known, to send them home with a story, and to become the reason people come to Bentonville.

Service is black and white. Hospitality is color. We are flawless at the first and fearless at the second.

Every need anticipated. Every wish granted.
