Numericable is hiring a Highway Guardrail Installer with a CDL. The role involves reading plans, laying out guardrail, loading materials, and driving to sites across the region. You will operate power tools, maintain delivery logs, and ensure compliance with FMCSA regulations.

A flexible schedule includes days, nights, weekends, and overtime as needed. Applicants should have 3–5 years of guardrail installation experience, a valid Class A CDL, and the ability to travel long distances.

Qualifications

Description

Highway Guardrail Installer position requiring a CDL license. Tasks relate to highway maintenance and adherence to applicable federal, state, and local regulations, company policies, procedures, and safety guidelines. Weekly pay, overtime available, and open schedule required.

Essential Job Functions

• Reading of plans and schematics.
• Layout of highway guardrail.
• Handling and installing all materials for guardrail installation.
• Loading and unloading materials on a flat-bed truck and/or trailer, digging holes, using power tools, etc.
• Operation of post pounder/Driver Truck.
• Drive long distances to deliver materials to jobsites in a timely manner.
• Load, unload, and record cargo deliveries. Maintain paperwork.
• Refuel and clean vehicle.
• Inspect trucks and report issues. Report road incidents to the dispatcher and report mechanical problems to maintenance personnel.
• Follow traffic laws and accident procedures.
• Keep an activities log and log hours. Plan routes using GPS.
• Keep commercial driver requirements up to date.
• Perform all other duties as assigned.

Desired Qualifications

• 3-5 years guardrail installation
• Proven work experience as a truck driver with extensive knowledge of applicable truck driving rules and regulations
• Hands-on experience with electronic equipment and software (GPS, AVL units, CB, etc.)
• Ability to drive long hours and travel regularly
• Adaptability and foresight to handle unexpected situations (traffic, weather, etc.)

Requirements

• Must possess a current and valid Class A CDL
• Must be able to drive manual transmission and have no manual transmission restriction on license
• Must be able to pass requirements on a FMCSA Clearinghouse Query
• Must provide a medical certificate
• Repeated physical effort including driving long hours, standing and walking for extended periods, loading and unloading equipment, walking on varying surfaces, and frequently lifting a minimum of 50 pounds
• Working from elevated platforms, ladders or truck beds
• Operating hand/power tools and manual dexterity to operate keyboards and smartphones
• Working outdoors in adverse environmental and weather conditions with exposure to high speed traffic areas and construction environment
• Comfortable around moving vehicles and maintaining awareness of surroundings on construction sites
• Vision and hearing adequate to read plans and hear commands, with ability to complete daily paperwork
• Flexible schedule including day or night shifts, weekends and/or holidays, and overtime; ability to work individually or as part of a team
• Valid driver's license required; may require passing MVR and controlled substances test; background and criminal record check may be required; knowledge of local driving rules and regulations
• Must meet company standards post-employment for background checks and drug testing
