Maryland Legal Aid in Baltimore seeks an experienced Guardianship staff attorney-floater to represent indigent adults in guardianship matters across Maryland circuits, attend APS trainings, and participate in outreach.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctorate (J.D.) from an accredited law school.
• Admitted to practice in Maryland or eligible for admission.
• Knowledge of civil law, judicial procedures, and rules of evidence.
• Excellent research, writing, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Represent clients as assigned by the court.
• Conduct preliminary and subsequent interviews with clients.
• Draft pleadings, memoranda, and briefs.
• Develop case theory and strategy for representation.
• Prepare cases for negotiations, hearings, trials, and appeals.
• Maintain case records in the LegalServer system.
• Participate in trainings, outreach activities, and internal committees.
