Job summary

Lutheran Social Service of Minnesota is seeking a Guardian Conservator to carry out court-appointed duties, manage finances, and ensure care for vulnerable adults in the Guardianship Options Program.

You will handle a caseload of 35–42 individuals across a geographic region, travel monthly to visit clients, and coordinate with courts and families to deliver appropriate services.

Qualifications

• Two years of experience with similar client populations and needs.
• Valid drivers license.
• Ability to exercise sound judgment regarding best interest of client and financial matters.
• Extreme attention to communications, documentation, and billing.
• Must be cleared by a BCA background check and MVR.

Responsibilities

• Advocate for least restrictive life choices for clients.
• Develop and deliver supported decision-making with individuals and families.
• Coordinate with courts, including annual reports.
• Supervise client personal and healthcare; may authorize services.
• Sign legal documents (consents, admissions, leases).
• Collaborate with a support team to ensure appropriate living environment and services.
• Travel to visit clients at least monthly.
• Provide substitute decision-making during medical emergencies.
• Oversee financial management and assets for assigned individuals.
• Work with the financial team on asset oversight and reporting.
• Participate in on-call schedule for emergencies.

Job Summary:

As a Guardian Conservator, you will carry out the duties of a court appointed Guardian/Conservator as set forth in MN statutes, provide financial management, and/or ensure care for vulnerable adults in the Guardianship Options Program. A Guardian Conservator will carry a caseload of 35-42 individuals that typically covers a geographic region of the state.

Responsibilities Include:

• Advocate for individuals for least restrictive life choices that enable them to live full and abundant lives.
• Work with individuals and families in the development and service delivery of supported decision-making.
• Work closely with courts, including annual reports.
• Supervise and monitor client personal and health care. This can include authorizing medical, therapy, treatment, support, vocational, and other services.
• Sign legal documents - such as consents, admissions, and lease agreements.
• Work as a member of a support team to ensure appropriate living environment and services.
• Travel to visit clients at least monthly.
• Provide substitute decision-making regarding medical emergencies and other sudden changes in client's situation.
• Be responsible for the financial management and oversight of individuals assigned to them.
• Work with financial team to oversee financial assets.
• Be a member of an on-call schedule for client emergencies.

Qualifications and Requirements:

• Two years of experience with similar client populations and needs.
• Valid driver's license.
• Previous lived experience in making clear and unbiased thinking and decision-making skills.
• Ability to exercise sound judgement regarding best interest of client, major financial transactions, and life & death situations.
• Extreme detail attention to communications, accurate and timely documentation, and billings.
• Must be cleared by a Bureau of Criminal Affairs (BCA) background study, have a driver's license, and complete a Motor Vehicle Check (MVR).
