Job summary

Choice Aviation Services in Newark, NJ is seeking a GSE Mechanic / Forklift Mechanic to inspect, repair and maintain airport ground support equipment such as tugs, belt loaders, and push-back tractors. The role requires hands-on mechanical and electrical troubleshooting, a high school diploma, and the ability to lift heavy loads.

You will perform preventive maintenance, participate in safety inspections, document work thoroughly, and respond to emergency calls.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Must lift and move heavy equipment and perform physically demanding tasks.
• Certified technician with a minimum of two years of certification.
• Experience troubleshooting hydraulic and electrical systems.
• Knowledge of forklift repair and preventative maintenance.
• Ability to read technical manuals and schematics.
• Strong problem-solving, communication, and teamwork.
• Detail-oriented, safety-conscious, able to work independently.

Responsibilities

• Maintenance and repair of ground support equipment (diesel engines, transmissions, suspensions, hydraulics, electrical systems).
• Use diagnostic tools to identify and resolve mechanical/electrical issues.
• Carry out scheduled preventive maintenance to keep equipment safe and reliable.
• Conduct routine safety inspections and remove malfunctioning units from service until repairs are complete.
• Respond to emergency calls for assistance with GSE malfunctions or accidents.
• Complete accurate maintenance documentation compliant with regulations.
