Job summary

Amazon Kuiper Infrastructure LLC is seeking a Project Engineer - Ground Support Equipment to lead the design, development and testing of GSE for launch operations at Kennedy Space Center and related facilities in Florida. The role collaborates with launch, quality and manufacturing teams, owns specifications, conducts analyses, and manages vendors to deliver reliable equipment on schedule.

Candidates should have strong mechanical, pneumatic and electrical system experience in GSE for satellite

Qualifications

• 5+ years in mechanical engineering or equivalent.
• Prototyping and implementation experience.
• 2+ years of structural analysis including hand calculations and FEA.
• 3+ years CAD design of complex systems with 3D modeling, drawings, and GD&T.
• Experience designing large weldments and mechanical systems.

Responsibilities

• Design and manage GSE through development and build cycles for launch operations.
• Coordinate with launch operations personnel to meet operational requirements for GSE.
• Develop and approve specifications for performance, fabrication, acceptance test and maintenance.
• Manage external partners to ensure GSE meets specifications and timelines; establish maintenance and proofload documentation.
• Perform analysis (hand calculations and FEA) to support design.
• CAD design and analysis of concept models using Siemens NX and Femap.
• Maintain and report on equipment schedule, budget, and technical status.
• Implement and continuously improve GSE operations.
• Assembly, integration, and test takt time and cost optimization planning.
• Shift schedule will vary with production/launch schedules.
• Willingness to travel up to 25% annually domestically or internationally.
