Menzies Aviation in Austin, TX seeks an experienced Diesel Mechanic responsible for repairing and rebuilding airport service vehicles including trucks, carts, tankers and hydrant trucks. You will inspect parts, repair engines, hydraulics, electrical and mechanical systems to keep equipment in top condition.

The role requires 2–4 years of diesel mechanic experience, a valid US driver's license, ability to read/write English, and physical capability to lift up to 70 lbs.

Qualifications

  • 2 to 4 years of Diesel Mechanic experience.
  • Must be 18 years of age.
  • Valid US driver’s license.
  • Must be authorized to work in the USA.
  • Ability to read, write and speak English.

  • Willing to work variable shifts including weekends and holidays.
  • Able to obtain Airport Badges/Seals.

Responsibilities

  • Perform monthly, quarterly, and annual quality control checks on refueling equipment and maintain records.

Role Purpose

This role is responsible for the safe and efficient repairing and rebuilding of airport service vehicles. These vehicles include but are not limited to support trucks, stationary carts, tankers, and hydrant trucks. You will be required to inspect and identify defective or broken parts on vehicles as well as make repairs to gas/diesel engines, hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical systems.

The maintenance team ensures our aircraft services team can operate effectively by providing proper preventive care for equipment and timely repairs to broken equipment ensuring all work is performed safely and is supported by following established procedures and protocols.

What you will be doing

  • Inspect and identify defective or broken parts on vehicles as well as make repairs to gas/diesel engines, hydraulic, electrical, fueling and mechanical systems.
  • Perform monthly, quarterly, and annual quality control checks on the refueling equipment, maintain records relating to maintenance.
  • Ensure our aircraft services team can operate effectively by providing proper preventative care to equipment and timely repairs to broken equipment.
  • Maintain a safe and secure work environment, in accordance with local health, safety, and security policies and procedures, aassuring a clean and safe working environment
  • Hydrate electric equipment according to the Hydration Schedule
  • Able to program and understand the functions of the Rapid Charger, including the Battery Monitor and Identification Device (BMID)
  • Perform monthly, quarterly and annual quality control checks on the equipment
  • Able to perform an accident inspection on involved equipment

  • Must have 2 to 4 years of Diesel Mechanic experience/background

  • Must be available and flexible to work variable shifts including weekends and holidays
  • Must be comfortable working in all weather conditions
  • All mechanics are required to perform all duties of the other positions, as needed do to operational need; Example: A Level I Mechanic may need to perform tasks of a Level III when directed
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain all required Airport Badge
  • Must have a High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED), or one to three months related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience
