Job Title: GSA Interior Designer
Location: Fort Belvoir, VA
The difference you’ll make: We’re looking for an experienced and detail-oriented GSA Interior Designer to support dancker’s on‑site work with the Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) at Fort Belvoir, VA. In this role, you’ll work closely with the on‑site dancker Project Manager and DLA facilities team to support space planning, systems furniture design, employee moves/adds/changes, furniture reconfigurations, field verifications, and AutoCAD drawing updates. This is a highly collaborative, client‑facing role that requires strong technical design skills, systems furniture knowledge, and the ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced government facilities environment. The position is expected to be on site five days a week at DLA in Fort Belvoir, VA.
How you’ll make an impact:
Design & Space Planning
- Manage employee space planning requests and provide project designs that meet DLA and client standards.
- Complete field verifications to confirm existing conditions and inform accurate design solutions.
- Prepare and update AutoCAD drawings to support furniture layouts, reconfigurations, and space planning needs.
- Develop design solutions using systems furniture knowledge, with Steelcase experience preferred.
Project Coordination & Furniture Support
- Coordinate employee moves, adds, and changes in partnership with the on‑site dancker Project Manager and DLA facilities stakeholders.
- Manage furniture reconfigurations and prepare detailed furniture take‑off lists to support project planning and execution.
- Prepare drawings that identify required trades and support coordinated execution of workplace changes.
- Support day‑to‑day facilities‑related design requests while maintaining accuracy, responsiveness, and client service standards.
Client Collaboration
- Meet with end users to understand space needs, project requirements, and furniture reconfiguration requests.
- Attend weekly meetings with the government facilities team and contribute updates, recommendations, and design support.
- Work hand in hand with the on‑site dancker Project Manager to support DLA facilities needs and ensure timely follow‑through.
- Communicate clearly with internal and external stakeholders to resolve questions, clarify requirements, and support successful project outcomes.
What you’ll bring to this role:
- Design degree or at least 5 years of experience in systems furniture with a major manufacturer; Steelcase experience preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of industry experience with strong systems furniture knowledge.
- Intermediate to advanced AutoCAD skills required.
- Experience supporting space planning, field verifications, furniture reconfigurations, and move/add/change work.
- Ability to work on site five days a week at DLA in Fort Belvoir, VA.
- Strong client service, communication, organization, and follow‑through skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with project managers, facilities teams, end users, and government client stakeholders.
- Detail‑oriented approach with the ability to manage multiple requests, deadlines, and priorities in an active facilities environment.

Salary Range
$70,000–$85,000, based on skills, capabilities, and experience.
