Job summary

Matter Family Office is seeking a Managing Director, Head of Business Development to lead the firm’s organic growth strategy. You will build the BD function, implement CRM and forecasting, and develop relationships with UHNW families and trusted advisors.

You will partner with Investment Management, Wealth Planning, and Coordination to scale business development. The role requires a seasoned leader capable of guiding cross-functional teams and representing Matter at industry events.

Qualifications

• 10+ years in business development or wealth/investment management.
• Proven ability to win new business with UHNW families and trusted advisors.
• Experience building BD processes, metrics, and CRM practices.
• Ability to engage C-suite executives and sophisticated clients.
• Excellent judgment, discretion, integrity, and communication.
• Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute Matter's organic growth strategy with the CEO and leadership team.
• Build the firm's business development methodology, including pipeline stages, prospect qualification, opportunity scoring, proposals, and conversion standards.
• Implement CRM practices, reporting, KPIs, and report progress, trends, and risks to leadership.
• Grow introductions from attorneys, CPAs, bankers, and family office professionals, and represent Matter at industry events.
• Partner with Marketing and leadership to refine Matter's positioning, and with service teams to develop tailored proposals for prospective families.
• Evaluate prospective relationships for fit, complexity, profitability, risk, and capacity, and create a clear handoff to client service teams.
• Coach professionals involved in business development and build organizational capability so growth does not depend on a few individuals.
