Job summary

Mercury is seeking a Growth Data Scientist to join our analytics engine and partner with Growth product, design, engineering and marketing to shape how we acquire, activate and retain customers across business and personal banking.

You will be a full-stack Data Scientist on end-to-end projects, building domain expertise at the intersection of Data Science, Product and Growth, helping set direction for growth metrics and investment decisions aligned with Mercury’s goals.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of experience in data science, product analytics or growth analytics, including 3+ years partnering with product growth teams.
• Strong product sense with a track record of shaping product direction.
• Deep experience with experiment design and analysis, including funnel, cohort and retention analyses.
• Fluency in SQL and a statistical programming language (Python or R).
• Experience with product analytics and BI tools such as Amplitude, Hex, Omni; familiarity with Snowflake and dbt a plus.
• Comfort with ambiguity and challenging senior stakeholders, backed by evidence.
• Clear, concise communicator who tailors the message for technical and non-technical audiences.

Responsibilities

• Partner with Growth product, design, engineering and marketing leaders to identify the highest-impact business questions and influence what gets built.
• Own the growth funnel end to end from first visit to signup, activation and retention with metrics and narratives.
• Size opportunities and help prioritize the Growth roadmap and annual planning with incomplete data.
• Design, analyze and communicate experiments (A/B tests and quasi-experiments).
• Right-size work to the decision: quick directional work or rigorous analysis as needed.
• Collaborate with Data Scientists, Data Engineers and Analytics Engineers to build trusted growth metrics.
• Communicate findings to executives with a clear point of view that drives revenue.
