Lukas Nursery & Butterfly Encounter is seeking a Growing and Restocking Associate to care for plants, assist with displays, and maintain a well‑kept nursery environment. The role emphasizes attention to plant health, teamwork, and reliability in a full‑time schedule (30+ hours/week) with weekday and occasional weekend hours.

Ideal candidates will have 2+ years in plant care, strong knowledge of plant maintenance, and the ability to lift 50+ lbs.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years experience in plant care or horticulture preferred.
  • Knowledge of plant maintenance: watering, pruning, fertilizing.
  • Ability to lift 50+ lbs and work outdoors in varying conditions.
  • Excellent attention to detail and observation skills for plant health.

Responsibilities

  • Care for plants through watering, fertilizing, pruning, and maintenance.
  • Monitor plant health and identify pests, diseases, or stress.
  • Assist with transplanting, spacing, staking, and growing tasks.
  • Maintain clean growing environment and outdoor areas.
  • Operate and maintain nursery equipment and irrigation systems.
  • Follow safety protocols for chemicals, fertilizers, and tools.
  • Communicate plant health needs and inventory to growing manager.
  • Assist with seasonal displays and nursery presentation tasks.
  • Support team with nursery upkeep and customer service as needed.

Description

This position performs a variety of skilled tasks focused on the care, health, and presentation of plants across Lukas Nursery & Butterfly Encounter. The Growing and Restocking Associate is responsible for maintaining plant health through watering, fertilization, pruning, and general upkeep. This individual will work both independently and as part of a team to ensure plants thrive and customers enjoy a well‑maintained nursery environment. This is a full‑time (30+ hours/week), non‑exempt position, requiring weekday and occasional weekend hours. The role involves outdoor work in all weather conditions and the physical ability to routinely lift 50 lbs or more.

As a vital part of the Growing and Restocking team, the associate plays a key role in ensuring the quality and appearance of our plants, contributing directly to customer satisfaction and the overall success of the nursery. The ideal candidate will be detail‑oriented, dependable, and passionate about plants with a strong knowledge of plant care practices.

  • Support the team with general nursery upkeep and customer service when needed.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in plant care, horticulture, or related field preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of plant maintenance practices, including watering, pruning, and fertilizing.
  • Ability to lift 50+ lbs regularly and work outdoors in varying conditions.
  • Excellent attention to detail and observation skills for identifying plant health issues.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.
  • Reliable, self‑motivated, and able to work independently or collaboratively.
  • Must maintain professionalism and a positive attitude when interacting with team members and customers
