Job summary

Accurus Aerospace seeks a Deburr Technician to remove burrs from machined parts and ensure conformance to specifications. The role involves grinding, blending, and precision finishing of metals, with emphasis on quality and safety in a manufacturing shop.

Required: a high school diploma or GED and familiarity with blueprints, calipers, and micrometers. Aerospace exposure is a plus; full-time on-site position in Oklahoma.

Qualifications

  • A High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • At least 1 year in a production/manufacturing role using hand tools; vocational training may substitute.
  • Experience reading shop blueprints and customer specifications is required.
  • Experience using precision measuring instruments, including mics and calipers, is preferred.
  • Aerospace manufacturing experience is advantageous.

Responsibilities

  • Selects the finish type per work instruction and inspects finish acceptability.
  • Operates grinders and powered hand tools to remove burrs and blend surfaces.
  • Blends metals (steel, aluminum, magnesium, titanium) and creates radii by hand.
  • Works with prints and specs; selects methods/tools to comply with requirements.
  • Maintains a clean, safe work area and reports hazards.
  • Regular on-site attendance is required.

Job description

Deburr Technicians are responsible for removing small imperfections (burrs) from machined metal parts. Our deburr technicians comply with customer and industry specifications to ensure the quality of machined parts. The Deburr Lead performs the regular duties of a deburr technician and is responsible for monitoring and motivating a group of employees toward achieving department objectives.

Essential Functions
  • Selects the type of finish specified per work instruction to determine the amount of metal to be removed, and examines the part for the acceptability of the finish
  • Operates grinders and similar powered hand tools to remove burrs and blend or polish surfaces to correct minor machining errors; uses carbide burr tools to remove excess material from parts without causing damage to parts
  • Performs blending of metals, including steel, aluminum, magnesium, and titanium; possesses the ability to create radius on areas of parts by hand
  • Performs work in compliance with prints and written specifications; selects appropriate methods and tools to comply with specs
  • Inspects equipment daily for damage; promptly reports issues to supervision and may enter work orders or communicate with maintenance personnel; inspects and replaces worn belts and grinding wheels; may perform preventive maintenance and minor repairs on tools & equipment used
  • May operate tumblers; loads & unloads tumbler hopper as needed
  • Maintains a clean, organized, and safe work area and ensures others maintain the same
  • Follows directions consistently and accepts responsibility for actions and work product
  • Complies with applicable manufacturing processes, work procedures, and supervisor instructions
  • Adheres to safety guidelines and procedures; proactively identifies job hazards and collaborates with leadership to minimize hazards and ensure employee safety
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned
  • Regular attendance on-site at the workplace is required
ITAR Compliance
  • An individual who is granted U.S. citizenship, or
  • An individual who is granted U.S. permanent residence (i.e., a "Green Card" holder), or
  • An individual who is granted status as a "protected person"
Required Education And Work Experience
  • A High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • A minimum of one (1) year of experience in a production/manufacturing role requiring the use of hand tools and material-handling equipment is preferred; recent vocational training in a metal-working or other technical role may be considered instead of work experience
Other Required Skills And Abilities
  • Experience in reading and accurately interpreting shop blueprints, technical drawings, and customer specifications is required
  • Experience using precision measuring instruments, including mics and calipers is preferred
  • Experience using powered electric and/or pneumatic hand tools, including grinders or sanders is preferred
  • Aerospace manufacturing experience is advantageous!
Physical Demands and Work Environment

To Perform The Essential Functions Of The Role, Employees Must Be Able To Perform The Following Activities With Or Without Reasonable Accommodations:

  • Regularly stand and walk throughout the facility, and stand for long periods to perform job duties
  • Regularly lift, carry (short distances), and push/pull up to 50 pounds using peer assistance and/or other lifting & material-handling equipment
  • Occasionally reaches overhead and reaches out or down to perform duties
  • Occasionally bend, crawl, stoop, squat, or kneel
  • Frequently uses hands or fingers to manually inspect parts and operate tools and/or material handling controls
  • Visual acuity to interpret readings on gauges and other measuring devices
Working Conditions

Work is performed in a manufacturing shop environment where working conditions may vary significantly; the employee will be exposed to:

  • Excessive noise (hearing protection required)
  • Dust, smoke, mist, fumes/vapors (regularly)
  • Extreme temperatures (occasionally)
  • Hazardous equipment, including forklifts, hand tools, cranes or other lifting devices, and other equipment used in a machine shop environment (regularly)

The use of PPE, including hearing protection, eye and hand protection, and safety footwear is required.
