Job summary

South Side Baptist Church, Abilene, TX, is seeking a passionate leader to launch a church-wide community group ministry from scratch and recruit, equip, and encourage CG leaders. The role focuses on developing a multiplier of leaders and advancing discipleship across the church.

You will also spearhead marriage ministry initiatives, build ministry teams, and support the Lead Pastor with various duties. Regular hours are expected, and alignment with Baptist Faith and Message 2000 is required to

Qualifications

• Meets the biblical qualifications.
• Strong, exemplary marriage.
• Preferred seminary training and 6+ years of ministry or marketplace experience.
• Proven and strong leader and developer of leaders.
• Ability to handle multiple tasks with little supervision.
• Commitment to and agreement with the Baptist Faith and Message 2000.
• Maintain regular office hours and be on-the-job 50+ hours per week.
• Committed to life-long learning. Humble and hungry.

Responsibilities

• Launch a church wide community group (CG) ministry from scratch.
• Recruit, equip, and encourage CG leaders.
• Build layers of leadership – a multiplier of leaders who equip leaders.
• Launch Reengage and Merge Marriage Ministries
• Recruit, equip, and encourage Reengage and Merge leaders.
• Build out various ministry teams as needed (Welcome, Ushers, Parking, Assimilation, etc.).
• Do the work of ministry: preach, teach, disciple, counsel, marry, bury, etc.
• Regularly disciple church members and train them to disciple others.
• Help build out a Residency/Internship program to develop leaders.
• Assist the Lead Pastor as needs arise and available to perform other duties as assigned by the elders.

South Side Baptist Church (ssbaptist.org) is a growing church in a college town. We are committed to expositional preaching, Reformation theology, elder-led congregationalism, regenerate church membership, leadership training, complementarianism, and a culture of discipleship and growth. Current membership is around 500 with $1.5M budget with overages every year.
