Job summary

Family YMCA of Greater Augusta is expanding its wellness program and seeking energetic, certified instructors to lead engaging, safe group fitness classes for a diverse community. Bring your style and creativity to a flexible schedule—early mornings, evenings, weekends, or new formats—and help members pursue healthier lifestyles while building a welcoming studio space.

Qualifications

• Requires CPR, First Aid, AED certification.
• Group fitness certification (ACE/NETA/AFAA/NASM) or YMCA Foundations cert (within 60 days).
• Specialty format certs a plus; SilverSneakers and YMCA Healthy Lifestyles desirable.
• At least 1 year of group wellness class teaching preferred; must be 18+; background check & drug screening required.

POSITION SUMMARY

We’re growing our wellness program and we’re looking for energetic, certified instructors to help us do it! As part of our commitment to healthy living for all, we’re expanding the variety of group fitness classes we offer and the times they’re offered to better serve our community. If you’re passionate about fitness and enjoy creating a safe, fun, and engaging space where members of all backgrounds and abilities feel welcomed and motivated, we want to hear from you.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

• Lead fun, inclusive, and safe group classes that inspire members to pursue healthier lifestyles.
• Help shape our evolving schedule by bringing your own style, expertise, and creativity to the mix – whether that’s early mornings, evenings, weekends, or new class formats.
• Be a connector: support members’ personal wellness goals and foster community inside and outside of the studio.
• Keep accurate records and follow all YMCA policies and safety procedures.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Required: CPR, First Aid, AED certification.
• Group fitness certification (ACE, NETA, AFAA, NASM) or YMCA Foundations of Group Exercise certification (must be obtained within 60 days of hire).
• Certification in a specialty format (e.g., Zumba, Yoga, Cycling, HIIT, etc.) is a plus.
• SilverSneakers and YMCA Healthy Lifestyles certifications are highly desirable.
• At least 1 year of experience teaching group wellness classes is preferred.
• Minimum 18 years of age.
• Must pass background check and drug screening.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Ability to lead and demonstrate all aspects of a group class.
• Ability to move, bend, lift, and be active throughout your shift.
