Job summary

YMCA is seeking a Group Swim Instructor to teach swimming and water safety to participants of all ages, following the YMCA curriculum. The role involves developing lesson plans, assessing progress, and providing constructive feedback while maintaining constant vigilance for safety.

Responsibilities include communicating with families, maintaining equipment, and participating in ongoing training to stay current with best practices in swimming instruction.

Qualifications

• Minimum age of 16.
• Strong swimming skills and proficiency in various swim strokes and techniques.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with participants of all ages and backgrounds.
• Certifications required within 60 days of employment: CPR, First Aid, AED, Oxygen.
• Ability to complete courses before the first shift: Child Abuse Prevention; Bloodborne Pathogens, Athlete Protection, and Sexual Harassment training.
• Passion for the YMCA mission and commitment to serving the community.

Responsibilities

• Teach swimming lessons to groups of various ages and skill levels.
• Develop and implement age-appropriate lesson plans.
• Assess participants’ abilities and provide feedback to set goals.
• Ensure safety and enforce rules during lessons.
• Communicate with participants, staff, and guardians about progress and expectations.
• Maintain and organize pool equipment and instructional materials.
• Stay updated on best practices and participate in trainings.
