The J in Overland Park is hiring part-time swim instructors to teach American Red Cross lessons for children from 6 months upward. You may teach group or private sessions with weekday evenings, weekends or Sundays.
Applicants must be American Red Cross WSI certified (or eligible to obtain), at least 16, and able to communicate well with children and parents. Customer service skills are essential and previous coaching experience is a plus.
The J offers American Red Cross group swim lessons for children age 6 months and up. We offer classes for the beginner to the experienced swimmer who may be working on stroke proficiency and endurance. We also offer private swim lessons for all ages and abilities. Swim Instructors have flexible schedules and have teaching opportunities weekdays, weekends and evenings.

Tues and Thu evenings and/or Sundays daytime
Requires constant talking and hearing to communicate instructions with students, constant repetitive motions and eye/hand/foot coordination to demonstrate strokes as well as frequent standing. Will occasionally walk, lift/carry/push/pull up to 50 lbs., climb ladders in and out of pool, and stoop/crouch. This position also involves exposure to outdoor weather conditions depending on the season, and varying pool temperatures. Good vision to surveil assigned zones and identify patrons in need of assistance. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
