Job description

Join a group of passionate advocates on our mission to improve the lives of youth! Rite of Passage Team is hiring for Group Supervisor at Safe Passage in South Bend Indiana.

Safe Passage is a diagnostic and evaluation facility that works with youth ages 10 to 18. A youth is referred to our program by a DCS case manager or a probation officer for a clinical assessment. The youth stay at our locked secure facility for 30 days while our psychologist completes a full diagnostic and assessment. The psychologist updates diagnosis, treatment plans, and future placement options. Youth will leave Safe Passage within the next 30 days after their assessment is completed, going on to one of three places: back home with social services in place, to a foster care or group home, or to a residential facility to work on the youth’s recommendations.

Responsibilities

• The Group Supervisor exercises considerable independent judgment and authority on a daily basis through direction and supervision of both students and staff to meet expectations of the services provided.
• Direct control and direction over subordinate staff such as Senior Coach Counselors, Coach Counselors, Night Coach Counselors, transportation, and other related personnel.
• Ensures safety, care, and around‑the‑clock supervision of students in the program.
• Participates in decisions involving hiring, transfer, suspension, layoff, promotion, discharge, assignment, performance evaluation, reward, or discipline of employees and program delivery.
• Maintains daily operations and ensures compliance with facility policies and regulations.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent (desired).
• At least 21 years of age.
• Passes a criminal background check, drug screen (no THC test for pre‑employment), physical, TB test, and child abuse central registry search.
• Direct care experience with juveniles (minimum 1 year).
• Strong leadership skills, decisive judgment, and ability to work with diverse teams.
• Excellent communication and organizational abilities.

Schedule

12‑hour days: 8:30am to 9:00pm on days, 9:00pm to 9:00am on nights, alternating weekly rotation, with 1 hour breaks.

Work cycles: Monday and Tuesday work; Wednesday and Thursday off; Friday, Saturday, and Sunday work. (Alternate schedule available.)
