Job summary

Arlington Public Schools seeks an instrumental (Strings) teacher to provide group music instruction for students in grades 3–5 (AM) in violin, viola, cello and bass. Bachelor’s degree in applied music or music education is required.

MA DESE licensure is preferred. The candidate should have experience teaching elementary-age children and the ability to motivate and engage students in a safe, supportive environment.

Job description

The Arlington Public Schools is seeking an instrumental (Strings) teacher who has experience working with elementary age-children to provide group instrumental music instruction to students in grades 3-5 during the regular school day (AM) in the following areas: violin, viola, cello and bass.

Requirements: Experience teaching elementary-age children is required.

The successful candidates will demonstrate expertise on their instruments and a strong background in and knowledge of materials, methods, and the pedagogy associated with their instruments. Experience teaching elementary students in a large group setting is essential. Successful candidates will exhibit dynamic interpersonal skills and the ability to motivate and engage elementary-age children, and maintain and enhance enthusiastic participation in music making in a safe, supportive, and student-centered environment.

Bachelor's degree in applied music or music education is required.

MA DESE licensure is preferred.
