Job summary

Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) seeks a Group Leader for the Quantum HPC (QHPC) Group within the NCCS. The role provides R&D leadership to advance ORNL and DOE portfolios at the intersection of quantum computing and HPC.

The Group Leader will manage a team of researchers, drive independent and collaborative research, and build capabilities for open quantum software and hardware integrations on ORNL systems. A PhD and proven leadership are required.

Qualifications

• Requires a Ph.D. in quantum computing science, or related fields, with a minimum of 6 years relevant experience.
• Demonstrated experience in leading R&D teams.
• R&D experience in quantum computing or related domain with knowledge of high performance computing and scalable analytics.
• Demonstrated management experience is preferred.
• Engagement with DOE and national lab ecosystem, especially leadership computing, is advantageous.
• Exceptional communication, planning, collaboration, and customer service skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop a vision and implement a cohesive group research strategy.
• Lead and perform independent R&D in quantum computing.
• Partner with scientific domain experts to optimize use of quantum/HPC resources.
• Lead proposals and collaborators to advance science and technology at ORNL.
