Hourly Rate: $33.59 (Overtime and weekends may be required)
Shift: 3rd Shift 10 pm - 6:30 am | Shift Differential $0.80 hour
Position Summary
The Production Group Leader serves as the primary support to the Shift Supervisor and plays a key role in leading daily production operations. This position is responsible for promoting a safe and productive work environment, supporting employee training and development, ensuring compliance with food safety and quality standards, and assisting with operational oversight throughout the facility.
The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader with strong communication skills, manufacturing experience, and a commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
This position reports directly to the Production Supervisor.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in leading and coordinating daily production activities to ensure safe, efficient, and quality-focused operations.
- Train and mentor employees on equipment operation, safety procedures, food safety requirements, and quality standards.
- Monitor production processes and identify opportunities for operational improvements.
- Communicate equipment issues, downtime, and non-standard operating conditions to management, along with recommended corrective actions.
- Verify production activities meet customer specifications and company quality standards.
- Complete production documentation, reports, and shift records accurately and timely.
- Support water conservation initiatives by monitoring system levels and equipment operation.
- Verify cleaning and sanitation (CIP) activities are completed according to schedule.
- Promote workplace safety and ensure employees consistently follow safety policies and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Report workplace hazards and support corrective action efforts.
- Monitor and support Critical Control Points (CCPs) and HACCP program requirements.
- Assist with production coverage and provide operational support as needed.
- Ensure compliance with food safety, quality, GMP, and personal hygiene requirements.
- Conduct routine plant inspections, including climbing stairs and ladders to monitor production systems.
- Maintain professional relationships with employees, customers, vendors, and visitors.
- Demonstrate dependable attendance, punctuality, and a positive leadership approach.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Minimum of five (5) years of manufacturing experience, preferably in citrus, food, beverage, or related processing environments.
- Minimum of two (2) years of leadership or supervisory experience.
- Working knowledge of manufacturing equipment and production processes.
- Basic computer skills, including the ability to use touchscreen and production monitoring systems.
- Forklift certification or the ability to obtain certification.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work flexible schedules and adapt to changing business needs.
- Bilingual English/Spanish skills strongly preferred.
- Associate degree or additional technical training is a plus.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and manage changing priorities.
- Frequent walking throughout the facility, including climbing stairs and ladders.
- Ability to work both in production areas and office settings.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds on an occasional basis.
- Ability to work under pressure while maintaining attention to detail and operational standards.
