Job summary

OSI Group is seeking a Group Leader to supervise and guide a team of machine operators in safe, efficient food production. You will ensure proper equipment operation, quality, and adherence to GMP and SOP standards on a day-to-day basis.

You will coordinate tasks, mentor operators, and partner with maintenance to address issues. The role emphasizes safety, attention to detail, and continuous improvement in a fast-paced plant environment.

Qualifications

  • 1-3 years of related experience preferred.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and understanding of machine operation in a manufacturing setting.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise, lead, and support a team of machine operators to meet daily production targets.
  • Ensure proper setup, operation, and shutdown of production equipment in accordance with company protocols and safety standards.
  • Assign tasks and monitor employee performance, providing coaching and feedback to support continuous improvement.
  • Conduct regular equipment inspections and coordinate with maintenance teams to address mechanical issues promptly.
  • Oversee compliance with GMP, SOPs, and food safety regulations.
  • Maintain accurate production records, shift reports, and downtime documentation.
  • Implement and enforce safety policies, conducting toolbox talks and contributing to a culture of safety.
  • Collaborate with other departments to support smooth workflow and resolve production challenges.
  • Support training and onboarding of new operators, promoting skill development and cross-training opportunities.
  • Identify areas for process improvement and participate in lean manufacturing initiatives to enhance efficiency and product quality.

Experience & Skills

Preferred Education

Work Environment
  • Work can be performed within a manufacturing plant environment with noise, extreme temperatures, and significant movement of powered equipment, people and conveyor (may depend on the role).
  • Work conditions are typical of a food manufacturing facility.
  • This role does not require any domestic travel
  • Position may require the physical agility of lifting up to 50 pounds
  • Position may require frequent and/or infrequent of bending, squatting, pushing, pulling, stretching/reaching, use hands or fingers, talk, hear, feel objects, tools, controls and standing/walking on concrete flooring.
  • Position may require the physical ability to stand/walk for Greater than 4 hours.
